Buenas Dias from Ensenada!!
We arrived yesterday (the 30th) at Cruiseport Village Marina. The staff, particularly Jonathan and Enrique were amazingly helpful in making our entrance into Mexico a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Today we will be leaving the marina for Isla San Todos, looking forward to spending a night on the hook again. Marina life can be comfortable, but we do love the feeling of isolation...the peace and quiet.
We got our TelCel internet and hope to be able to keep up with the blog. We wish you all a very Happy New Year!!

November 15th
Morro Bay was pretty, and the people were incredibly nice. We docked at MBYC, which did not have full reciprocal privileges but had nice facilities and plenty to do while waiting out the weather.
From Morrow Bay we went with Sabrina, a boat we met at MYBC to San Miguel, beautiful island, rolly anchorage though.
Next was SBYC in Santa Barbara, where we spent a wonderful relaxing day, then met friends for breakfast and headed out either to Santa Cruz Island or Oxnard. We chose the island, gorgeous. Amazingly clear waters. We anchored in 20 feet and could actually see the anchor! Dolphins followed us into the little bay, and when we took the dinghy out to explore, we saw purple sea urchins and star fish!!
After a rough night at anchor we set sail towards Oxnard. Arriving late, we took a transient berth for $45. WOW. Next night we went across the marina to the Channel Islands Yacht Club for two lovely free evenings with wifi and hot showers. We met the nicest couple who gave great advice on other yacht clubs we might enjoy. Taking their advice (Thank you Mary & Kurt!!) we are now in Marina Del Rey, where we've spent two nights, and met more great people. Dina & Malcom from Canada on Good as Gold, and Jeanne Socrates.. a truly amazing woman who at the age of 70 has recently completed her second circumnavigation alone.
After a great $5 breakfast at Killer Cafe in Venice, we are now getting ready to set sail...or most likely motor for lack of winds to either Santa Catalina Island or Cabrillo Marina in San Pedro...we'll let you know later which way the wind blew.

We're in Morrow Bay still. The weather is starting to let up tomorrow, but still 10-20 knots of wind and 8 foot seas going around Point Conception. We may hang out here until Wednesday, but we will be anchoring out tonight. $25/day for the Yacht Club docks is starting to eat into our kitty to fast.
For being so windy offshore this harbor is quite mellow, except for the strong currents.
Yesterday I spend trying to install the depth sounder. Everything worked except the method I used to attach it to the bottom of the boat (silicon instead of apoxy). It works if I hang the transponder over the side and into the water, which is how we are going to have to use it until I get the correct material in San Diego.

October 28
Due to the unpredictable temperament of the weather gods we spent some time exploring Santa Cruz. Beautiful beaches and the boardwalk, even closed, was pretty awesome. Roller coasters and ferris wheel towering over the beach. And a special bonus was dinner and football ( yeah Hawks 7-1) with our friends Frank & Amber and their two amazing, intelligent, adorable daughters. We really enjoyed ourselves despite the foul smelling marina and uncooperative yacht club.
So now its a little after 10 am and we are trying to leave but the engine is being temperamental .....to be continued
October 26-27 San Francisco to Santa Cruz
We passed under the Golden Gate bridge at 12:38 pm Oct 26. It started out with fair winds and sunny skies but around 4 pm we hit heavy fog and seasickness hit Dominga. James manned the helm, hand steering about 17 hours. We arrived at Santa Cruz Harbor at 9:40 am Oct 27th and the rest of that day is a blur :) With an unfavorable weather report we decided to stay 2 nights.

October 24-25
We did it! We finally left Berkeley Marina at about 2:30 pm on the 24th after a rough two days of waiting for a part for our water pump and hours of installation work on said part. The weather was perfect. We averaged 5.5 knots and made it to Clipper Cove (between Yerba Buena and Treasure Island) at 5:30 pm. We had homemade chili veggie dogs on cornbread for dinner and enjoyed a peaceful evening at anchor. This morning we unloaded the dinghy and went for a hike on the beach.
